Kristin is a sharp, dynamic public policy strategist known for political acumen and success working with diverse groups. With nearly two decades experience in legislative and political affairs, Kristin has strong comprehension of the levers that influence change at the community, budget, and policy levels. Her work predominantly focuses on early learning, education, and issues that impact children and families. She is also experienced and highly-organized in research, outreach, project management, and event planning.
As Washington State Director for the Mission: Readiness WA and ReadyNation WA chapters of the Council for a Strong America, she crafted and executed outreach, policy development, and advocacy strategy for early childhood priorities in Washington. As the past Deputy Director of the public-private partnership Early Care and Education Coalition (EC2), Kristin served as the policy point-person and created effective early learning policy alliances. As a consultant, Kristin has provided strategic advice, lobbying support, advocacy coaching, messaging, research, and reports that have help increase effective investments and policies and further develop sustainable systems. Additionally, she has served on numerous state early learning technical advisory committees to inform policy development and implementation as well as statewide coalitions that support our youngest learners and most vulnerable families.
Kristin has hands-on experience inside and outside government as well as in the classroom working in rural, urban, and international settings. She taught for three years in Japan to grades preschool-16 including students with special needs and hearing impairment. She was promoted to Prefectural Advisor where she provided professional development training and mental health counseling to more than 100 educators, helped bridge cultural barriers in healthcare and the workplace, and served as a liaison between international contract workers and high-ranking Japanese education officials.
With a multi-dimensional perspective of systems, policies, programs, and services, Kristin’s approach is thoughtful, strategic, and respectful. She is a dedicated parent to her school-aged children and a committed volunteer in her son’s and daughter’s public schools. When she is not having adventures outdoors and traveling with her husband and children, she works in her garden, completes home improvement projects, and lifts weights at the gym.
